Make Your Own (Free Firmware)
While the prebuilt kits make it easier for teachers and students to get started, we want to ensure that everyone gets a chance to use the AppSheds IoT platform even if they don't have our kits. That's why we created a downloadable firmware that allows you to turn widely available and cheap microcontrollers into AppShed Ready IoT Boards. As of right now we support ESP8266 boards of the most kind and recommend the NODE MCU for use with our firmware. We have a detailed video and lesson explaining how to load the AppShed Firmware onto these blank boards here. The firmware can be downloaded bellow of accessed from our GitHub here.
